Integration - A Task for Europe of the 3 rd Millenium Within a historic contest, the European Union is about to get opened to its new members. Far not all population of Europe is prepared for this integration process. At a number of places and shortsightedly enough, uncertainly and purposefully defined national interests yet exceed the vision of the Europeanism which is about to offer to this continent the necessary political, economic, spiritual as well as genuine civic emancipation. The support of the European integration is mostly focused on strategic, power, political-economic, technological arguments, military-defensive arguments, resp. Now there is time to raise appeals from the area of civic walks of life and its spiritual and cultural development. The Czech Republic located within the heart of Europe, understands its duty to contribute to a reinforcement of the idea of integration on its widest possible scale offering its own cultural potential. From the initiative demonstrated by ORBIS PICTUS: EUROPA, the Czech Art Society, and under the auspices of Ing. Zdeněk Vojíř, the Vice Chairman of the Senate of the Czech Republic, a project referred to as ORBIS PICTUS: EUROPA has been founded, which should strengthen the conscience of the European appurtenance. This is about the biggest connection of visions in respect of the future Europe, according to leading personalities of the European art. The OPE art society is in progress of preparation ahead of time a series of exhibitions and art shows in various towns of the Czech Republic and Europe. Artists live all over these places and their authority and individual expression might contribute to the joint message addressed to all population of the entire continent. Within a horizon of 3 years a realization of 20 to 35 exhibitions and art shows is assumed to happen which will permit to get in contact with and present about 300 up to 400 artists from all over Europe. These strong personalities will create a joint convincing piece of art, to be able to manifest their mutual understanding, a feeling of relation and their responsibility towards society as such. Through their creative potential they so might influence the future form of our world. ORBIS PICTUS: EUROPA - Endless Picture - Infinitely Opened Opportunity At the place abroad where an exhibition or art show is supposed to be organized the personalities of art are individually selected and contacted by the Czech Culture Centers, within the Czech Republic they are contacted by departments of culture of the appropriate authorities. The artists then progressively fill in an area assigned at a band of canvas - everyone of them will be able to present its own idea of unified Europe of the 3 rd Millenium freely and in its own special way envisioned important, and they all so will continue the work of those who contributed their share before them. There is no doubt whatsoever that this gives a chance to create a monumental multi-voiced piece of work addressing those being friendly to unified Europe as well as those who consider themselves to be the hesitating Eurosceptics. Bands of canvas of necessary size, tools and quick-drying acrylate paints will be sent to the individual exhibitions and art shows in advance so that all artists involved get an opportunity to complete their contributions prior to the installation. The canvas bands then become a part of the exhibition or art show. Participation of the artists will be voluntary and their remuneration will be a peace of mind and image of co-participation in the work that will definitely bring attention of the art as well as non-art oriented society. In addition, after the event is finished, the authors will be provided with an elaborate comprehensive works catalogue they have participated in. The individual canvas bands from all exhibitions and art shows will be archived, and after the entire course of action is completed, they will be at a disposal to the Brussels European Union Office, to be auctioned off as a comprehensive piece of art, and from the finances acquired a fund or foundation will be established representing the project idea in this form. We expect that the picture created becomes a unique object quoted even in the Guinness Book of Records, and will gain a growing public attention. The creation and destiny of the works are particulary already captured on a documentary film that is made available to media on VHS-PAL and video CD-ROM; after its finalization as well as continuously part by part. |
